WHISKY LOVERS INVITED TO BE PART OF DARTMOOR WHISKY DISTILLERY
I’m not normally one to advertise on my site but this is one that I feel genuinely interested in as a whisky drinker and a local resident.
The Old Bovey Tracey Town Hall has been purchased by Greg and Simon and work is well underway to fit the new whisky still soon and start the brewing and distilling process. It will be a great moment when the first cask is filled I think. I thought I would share their latest press release about crowd funding – firstly a Kickstarter to raise money for the first run and then following an equity investment opportunity. I wish them all the luck in getting this ventrue off the ground and I hope we have a lovely whisky to savour in the future.

Devon’s first whisky distillery, Dartmoor Whisky Distillery, is giving whisky enthusiasts the chance to play a key role in getting the distillery upandrunning by crowdfunding through Kickstarter.
The young and ambitious distillery will be located in the Old Town Hall in Bovey Tracey, right on the edge of Dartmoor. Founders, Greg Millar & Simon Crow, have purchased a beautiful copper cognac still and the Old Town Hall premises and have entirely self-funded this project to the point of having the still ready for installation. Now, they look to the whisky loving community to help kickstart production.
Kickstarter is a global online crowdfunding community, which brings creative projects to life, whilst giving backers the chance to be part of something generic isotretinoinonlinebuy.com/ celebrex new. Backers pledge towards projects in exchange for a reward from the creator. The raised funds are given to the creator only if the projected goal is met in full or exceeded.
CoFounder Greg Millar said, “We have 45 days to raise an ambitious £25,000. This will purchase the beer wash for our first distillations. We have some attractive rewards on offer, from Dartmoor Distillery whisky glasses, through to making your own barrel of whisky. We welcome everyone and anyone to be part of our exciting Kickstarter project.”
With the cognac still, the Dartmoor barley and spring water and the specific barrels that have been sourced, Greg, Simon and Master Distiller Frank McHardy, aim to produce a darker, wine influenced whisky, that will rival the great whiskies of the world.
Dartmoor Whisky Distillery aims to draw in approximately 30,000 visitors per year for whisky tours and tastings, as well creating a bar, bistro and retail space for visitors and locals to relax, dine, drink and purchase local products. This will be of great economic benefit to the town, as well as creating jobs for local people and bringing new life to Bovey Tracey.
Dartmoor Whisky Distillery will be offering rewards in exchange for pledges ranging from £5 to £5000. The campaign goes live on 4th May 2016, for just 45 days , so whisky lovers who want a piece of the action are encouraged to act quickly to ensure they get the reward they want.
